Who we are

SoundLeveler is a per-app volume mixer for macOS made by Roman Kravtsov, an independent developer publishing as Blooming Island ("we"). You can reach us at support@blooming-island.com.

Audio

To change an individual app's volume, mute it or send it to a different output device, SoundLeveler has to route that app's sound through itself. macOS calls thisSystem Audio Recording and asks for your permission the first time.

• Audio is processed in real time, in memory, on your Mac.
• Audio is never recorded, saved to disk or sent anywhere.
• SoundLeveler only processes audio from apps whose volume, mute or output you've changed, and only while they are playing.
• While audio is being processed, macOS shows its recording indicator in the menu bar.

You can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording. SoundLeveler then stops adjusting app volumes.

Settings stored on your Mac

SoundLeveler saves your preferences locally so they apply the next time an app plays:

• the bundle identifier and name of each app you've adjusted (for example, "com.apple.Music", "Music");
• its volume, mute state and chosen output device (the device's identifier and name);
• whether you've completed the first-run screen.

These settings stay in the app's sandboxed container on your Mac. They are never transmitted, and they are deleted when you choose Reset All Settings or delete the app.

What SoundLeveler does not do

• It makes no network connections.
• It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or other third-party SDKs.
• It does not track you across apps or websites.
• It does not require an account.

Open at Login

If you turn on Open at Login, SoundLeveler registers itself with macOS to launch when you log in. No information is shared by doing this. You can turn it off in the app or in System Settings › General › Login Items.

Children

SoundLeveler collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
