So Why?

Terms of Use

End User Licence Agreement

Effective 14 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Roman Kravtsov, an independent developer publishing as Blooming Island ("we", "us") for the iPhone app So Why?. By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you don't agree with them, don't use the app.

They are in addition to Apple'sLicensed Application End User Licence Agreementand the App Store Terms of Service, which also apply to your copy of the app.

The licence

The app is licensed to you, not sold. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use So Why? on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. We keep all rights in the app itself: its code, design, name and graphics.

What you may not do

  • Copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or otherwise try to derive its source code, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
  • Modify the app or build derivative works from it.
  • Work around the checks that unlock paid features.
  • Use the app for anything unlawful.

What you write stays yours

The habits you create, the reasons you record and your retro answers are yours. We claim no rights over them and never receive them: they live on your device and in your own private iCloud. Keeping your Apple Account secure and your device backed up is therefore your responsibility.

Purchases and subscriptions

Premium features are available through three purchases, all handled by Apple's In-App Purchase system:

  • Premium Yearly: an auto-renewing subscription with a term of one year. It may be offered with a free introductory trial.
  • Premium Weekly: an auto-renewing subscription with a term of one week.
  • So Why? Premium: a one-time purchase that unlocks premium features for good. It does not renew.

Price

Prices are set in the App Store and shown to you in your own currency before you confirm anything. They differ between regions and can change; a change only ever applies to future billing periods, and Apple notifies you as its own rules require. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.

Automatic renewal

A subscription renews automatically for the same term unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price for the same term.

Managing and cancelling

You manage the subscription yourself, in your Apple Account settings: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. That is where you turn off auto-renew, and it has to happen at least 24 hours before the period ends to stop the next charge. Cancelling stops future renewals; it doesn't refund the period you are already in, and you keep access until that period runs out. We can't cancel a subscription on your behalf; only you can, through your Apple Account.

Free trial

Where a subscription is offered with a free trial, any unused part of that trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription to that product. If you don't want the subscription to begin, turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

The one-time purchase

So Why? Premium is a single payment. It does not renew, there is no recurring charge, and nothing needs cancelling. It is tied to the Apple Account you bought it with; on a new device, use Restore Purchases while signed in to that account.

Refunds

Refunds for anything bought through the App Store are handled by Apple. Go toreportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find So Why? and request the refund there.

The app itself

So Why? requires iOS 18 or later. Features may be added, changed or removed over time, and support for older systems may end as the app moves forward.

Not professional advice

So Why? is a habit tracker. It isn't a medical, psychological or therapeutic tool, it doesn't diagnose or treat anything, and nothing in it is a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

In particular, storage, sync and notification delivery depend on Apple's iCloud, CloudKit and notification services, which we don't operate and can't control. We can't guarantee that sync always succeeds, that a reminder always arrives on time, or that data is never lost. Keep a device backup.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for lost data, lost profits or a missed habit, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app and its in-app purchases in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations of liability, for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't permit it.

Ending the licence

Your licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You can end it at any time by deleting the app from your devices. The sections that by their nature should survive (the licence restrictions, the warranty disclaimer and the limitation of liability) survive the end of the licence.

Apple's role

  • This agreement is between you and us only. Apple is not a party to it, and we, not Apple, are solely responsible for So Why? and its contents.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. All support is provided by us: write to support@blooming-island.com.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance of them, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version appears on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.
